Fast Athlons are getting very affordable now that the 1.2GHz Athlon is on the street. No, the 1.2GHz model hasn’t officially debuted, but retailers are already carrying ’em for under 500 bucks. The real action, of course, is at the mid-range, which for AMD is now 1GHz. Gig Athlons are going for just over $280 in some places, believe it or not. Gig Pentium IIIs, meanwhile, are still about $675.
