Freebies are all the rage lately. AMD is bundling triple-A games with its Radeons, and Nvidia is giving out redeemable free-to-play credit with its GeForces. Now, Intel has announced a giveaway offer of its own, tied to the chipmaker’s unlocked, K-series processors. Hold on to your hats, because this is sure to be good!

Okay—snowboarding, winter, mountains, I get it. What’s the prize?

Your game and your gear can get a whole lot sweeter. With a qualified purchase of select Intel® Core™ Unlocked Processors, you will be entered for a chance to win a limited edition Intel snowboard. The board is sweet, but the processor is even sweeter! Packed with power, it will take your gaming to new heights. Included is Intel Turbo Boost Technology 2.0 which gives you accelerated performance when you need it (like slamming an energy drink while shredding the creamy POW on the mountain) and overclocking-enabled for the flexibility to set your system’s specs the way you like (just like you wouldn’t settle for the low end board boots or bindings, you want to pick what fits your style).

I… What? Shredding the what?

Okay, so here’s the recap, in case you got an aneurysm half-way through reading that: if you buy a K-series Intel processor (like the Core i5-3570K), you can enter here by March 31 for a chance to win a free snowboard. You must live in the U.S. or Canada (excluding Quebec) to apply. And yes, that’s a snowboard, not a motherboard. I guess Intel is assuming the kind of people who overclock their processors are also the kind of people who engage in extreme winter sports and, like, totally shred the… powdery… slopes and, uh, grind the… moose antlers. Extreme moose antlers.

There are only 15 snowboards up for grabs, so not everybody will get a shot at creamy POW shredding. Luckily, Intel says those who register will also receive an “Extreme Edition Intel® beanie, while supplies last.” I guess that’s probably a little more useful to the average PC enthusiast. Although maybe not two weeks before spring—I don’t usually wear thick, black winter headgear while enjoying the sunshine and blooming flowers.
