Mixer, the streaming platform that started out as Beam, is officially no more. A month ago, Microsoft announced that it would shut the service down in July. As we reported at the time of the announcement, the decision was made within Microsoft to transition away from managing a streaming platform itself to instead partnering with Facebook Gaming. Microsoft plans to eventually bring Project xCloud integration to Facebook Gaming.

Facebook introduced a dedicated gaming subsection of its website back in 2018 and has since been developing the Facebook Gaming brand. We reported earlier this year on Facebook’s newly launched gaming app intended to compete with the likes of Twitch, YouTube Gaming, and Mixer.

As it now turns out, rather than competing with Mixer, the Mixer domain and apps now redirect to Facebook Gaming. Those who visit mixer.com will find only a simple thank you message, a basic explanation of the platform’s closure, and a button leading to Facebook Gaming. Visiting Facebook Gaming by way of this button pulls up a custom header greeting the Mixer community. A “Learn More” button will take you to a more detailed welcome blogpost with some helpful information for former Mixer streamers and partners looking to switch to Facebook Gaming. Facebook has also set up a dedicated Mixer page at fb.gg/mixer to make it easier to find former Mixer streamers, though you’ll need to log in to Facebook first. However, as The Verge notes, a great many Mixer streamers have moved to Twitch, rather than Facebook Gaming.
