A couple of months back, we heard that Asus could launch its Eee Keyboard as early as May. Today, Engadget Chinese quotes Asus itself as saying the oddball nettop will be out by the end of next month.
In case you missed all the excitement earlier this year, the Eee Keyboard is a bit like a modern descendant of old-school systems like the Atari ST. Rather than stick PC guts inside a separate case and include cheap peripherals in the box, the Eee Keyboard puts everything, including an integrated 800×480 touch-screen display, within the same sleek enclosure as the keyboard.
Based on photos snapped by Engadget in March, the Eee Keyboard will come with a single- or dual-core Atom processor, 1GB of RAM, 16-32GB of solid-state storage, 802.11n Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and HDMI. A separate story by Reg Hardware quoted pricing of $400-600. Engadget Chinese says we should learn more at the Computex trade show in early June.
