Thanks to ZDNet's Mary Jo Foley, we already knew about Microsoft's plan for a public Windows Threshold preview in the early fall. Now, thanks to the guys at The Verge, we've got a tentative date: September 30.
Quoting "sources familiar with Microsoft's plans," The Verge says Microsoft is "tentatively planning" to hold a press event on September 30. At the event, the company will reportedly showcase the upcoming Windows release's "key new features" and introduce the public preview build.
That build will come out either on the day of the event itself or "shortly afterwards," The Verge says, and it will be aimed at "developers and enthusiasts." The site goes on to note that the exact date is liable to change, so there's still a little bit of wiggle room here. This is the closest thing to an official save-the-date we've gotten so far, though.
