Show notes
From NSA takeovers to chick-magnet case lighting, it’s an eclectic podcast we’ve assembled this round. Our show kicks off with two listener inquiries, then segues straight into what is clearly the most important item to discuss: the newly released Robocop reboot trailer. Our panel then tackles Microsoft’s curious acquisition of Nokia’s Devices & Services business, and they discuss a slew, nay, a host of new notebooks from Asus and Lenovo. Finally, Scott’s review of a new top-of-the-line Intel chip co-opted by the NSA, Cyril’s newly reviewed Enermax coolers are sure to snag the ladies, and Scott dissects new Avoton server processors from Intel.

Motherboard and case question – from Craig – (0:01:37):

“Just wanted to say firstly that I really enjoy checking out the Tech Report website and have only recently started listening to the podcasts. I appreciate the fact that all the podcast participants can clearly and articulately elaborate on the topic without ranting and raving or using colloquialisms. I learn a great deal from every podcast.

Anyway, I am having been planning a PC build (for work/gaming) and was all set to order the parts (based loosely around the Sweet Spot build specs) whereupon a friend suggested I wait for the C2 motherboard stepping revision – which will alleviate the Haswell USB 3.0 problem. Does anyone know anything about a release date or how the new mobos will be labelled? Is it worth the wait?

Secondly, I was thinking about an Antec 1100 (or even HAF 912 Advanced edition) for a case as I want a) fans with LEDs and perhaps some LED strips and b) a clear side panel so I gawk at my PC hardware. Can anyone suggest any alternatives?”

Multi-monitor reviews? – from ChangWizzle- (0:09:39):

“Would you guys be willing to do like followup articles on you GPU reviews using multi-monitors. 3x1080p etc.”

Tech discussion:

That’s all, folks! We’ll see you on the next episode.
